The Ultimate Obsidian Mauler Guide!

Hello and welcome to the Obsidian Mauler Guide! I'm Wez, a pure myself, you may have seen me at ::train3 or generally roaming the server.
I have decided to write a guide that goes through an Obsidian Mauler, this is one of the most popular pure's to date. That being said, I hope you’ll actually read the guide to catch up on your knowledge of this type of account.

Before we begin I would like to thank :- I 0wntz Joo (Its Initiate) off Runescape, he started this thread on the Runescape forums and gave me permission to copy and edit it to my own. All credit to him.

Let it be known that to become an Obsidian Mauler will require hours on end of training, money making, and more just to become the pures depicted in this guide. While doing said things, just remember the 3 P’s of training: Patience, Perseverance, and Post-Training Ownage. With this in mind, any training session will seem like a breeze…or just worth your while.

Now with all of these things in mind, let’s start the guide!

OM - i. Introduction

So you’ve chosen to become an Obsidian Mauler, eh? You’ve chosen the powerhouse of lower leveled pures. It’s a good choice if you like to blow away your opponents with unexpected 40s with your Tzhaar-Ket-Om (Obsidian Maul). Here are some model stats of a maxed out Obsidian Mauler:

Attack: 1
Strength: 99
Defense: 1
Ranged: 69….or….70
Magic: 69….or….70
Prayer: 13/31 (your choice; doesn't matter which)
Hitpoints: ~80

Combat: 54/56….or….60/62 (depending on Prayer)

Now, it’s time to you to start your account!

OM - ii. Choosing a Name

Here is where your account gains its name. Some people may not think that this part of making an account is important, but a name shows your personality to the game and/or your account. There are a few rules I suggest you abide to when making a name:

1. Don’t use leetspeak, replacing letters with numbers. Maybe one 0 instead of an O or something small like that can slide, but having “0bby P10x” instead of “Obby Please” is ridiculous.

2. Don’t use a main-like name (Hamncheez229) or use letters and numbers in a random sequence (Mmmmnmmnmnmn). Some people think that these are good tactics for confusing other players, but it’s not much of a secret that you’re a pure…

3. Make it something you like and won’t regret a week into training.

Amulet: Berserker Necklace
Weapon: Obsidian Maul
Shield: Book of Balance
Cape: Strength Cape
Wrists: Mithril Gloves

Ring: Ring of Recoil
Quiver: Nothing

Legs: Red D’hide Chaps
Amulet: Berserker Necklace / Amulet of Glory (if you dont want to look like an Obsidian Mauler)
Weapon: Rune Knives (~20)
Shield: Unholy Book
Cape: Strength Cape / Team Cape (if you dont want to look like an Obsidian Mauler)
Wrists: Mithril Gloves / Combat Bracelet (if you dont want to look like an Obsidian Mauler)
Boots: Iron Boots
Ring: Ring of Recoil
Quiver: Dragon Bolts (e) (~5)

EI i. - Terminology You Might Not Know or Understand

• Cba/Cbb - Can't be asked/bothered; used when you don't want to do something.
--(ex. I cbb to pk right now while prices are so high.)

• Ffs - For F^&k sake; used when angry or indignant.
--(ex. Ffs, this guy won't stop bothering me!)

• L2pk - Learn to PK; used when someone dislikes another's style of PKing.
--(ex. Lol, d clawing noob. L2pk.)

• Afk - Away from keyboard(-ing); used when referring to doing something that requires little to no attention, and can easily be done away from the keyboard.
--(ex. I was afking at rock crabs earlier.)

• Tbh - To be honest; used when stating something honestly.
--(ex. Tbh, I don't mind pjers much.)
