An Edge-PK Skill Guide: Herblore

Introduction
Hi, how are you? Welcome to my very first guide at the Edge-PK. Someone kindly requested me for a guide on herblore. I have also seen many players struggling to level their heblore at high levels. I am inspired to share my experiences, and in particular tips to help you level your herblore skill. In this guide, you will also find an assorted databases regarding to herblore, for example the list of ‘brewable’ potions. I hope you discover something helpful from this guide. Happy reading.

The Basics
Why Herblore?
Don’t you just love an extra boost on your combat skills? You can easily get them from the super potions. Yet, they always seem to be out of stock when you needed them the most… Moreover, buying them from players cost a fortune! Therefore, why not just make them yourself?

The herblore skill allows players to brew their own potions with various herbs and ingredients. These herbs and ingredients can be easily gathered via purchasing from NPC and loot.

How to Brew Potions?
Firstly, there is an items requirement to brew a completed potion. For each completed potion you would need:
- A vial of water
- The required herb
- The required secondary ingredient

Once you have the ingredients, to brew a potion simply follow these two steps:
Step 1) Click on the herb and use it on a vial of water, vice versa. This would produce an unfinished potion.

Step 2) Click on the secondary ingredient and use it on the unfinished potion, vice versa. This would result in a completed potion with four doses.

Remember that there is also a herblore level requirement for each unfinished and completed potions. To check the level requirement to brew the potion, simply click on the herblore icon found at the skills tab. A pop out will appear and it would show you the level requirement.

Antipoison Potion
Effect: Cures Poison
Level Required: 5
Herb: Marrentill
Secondary Ingredient: Unicorn Horn Dust

Strength Potion
Effect: Increases Strength by 10-15%
Level Required: 12
Herb: Tarromin
Secondary Ingredient: Limpwurt Root

Serum 207
Effect: Unknown; However, through my experimentation so far, when used on another player it recovers their Hitpoints by 1. There is also an interesting animation.

Restore Potion
Effect: Unknown
Level Required: 22
Herb: Harralander
Secondary Ingredient: Red Spider’s Eggs

Defense Potion
Effect: Increases Defense by 10-15%
Level Required: 30

Secondary Ingredient: White Berries

Prayer Potion
Effect: Restore 40% Prayer
Level Required: 38

Secondary Ingredient: Snape Grass

Super Attack Potion
Effect: Increases Attack by 20%
Level Required: 45
Herb: Irit Leaf
Secondary Ingredient: Eye of Newt

Super Strength Potion
Effect: Increases Strength by 20%
Level Required: 55
Herb: Kwuarm
Secondary Ingredient: Limpwurt Root

Super Restore Potion
Effect: Restore Prayer and lowered stats (excluding Hitpoints) by 40%
Level Required: 63
Herb: Snapdragon
Secondary Ingredient: Red Spider’s Eggs

Super Defense Potion
Effect: Increases Defense by 20%
Level Required: 66
Herb: Cadantine
Secondary Ingredient: White Berries

Saradomin Brew Potion
Effect: Increases Defense by 20% and lowers Attack, Strength, Range and Magic by 10%. Heals 15% Hitpoints.
Level Required: 81
Herb: Toadflax
Secondary Ingredient: Crushed Birdnest
It does not increase your Hitpoints by 15% as it would in the official server. It will further lowers your Attack, Strength, Range and Magic skills by a percentage if you drank the following dose right after the last. Drink a super restore potion to recover the lowered stats.

Note that ranging potion cannot be brewed, though there is dwarf weed.
Extreme strength potion cannot be brewed, though dwarf weed can be farmed.
Extreme defence potion cannot be brewed, despite the fact that Lantadyme can be farmed.

Additional Information
About the boosts, which gained from drinking a potion.

- If you have logged out, the boosts will remain the same until you chose to log back on.

- While online, for every one minute, the boost will deplete by one level. For example, if you have level 112 Defense, one minute later you would then have 111 Defense.

- The boosts will not stack on each other, but rather it will replace the previous boosts effects.

Obtaining Herbs and Ingredients
Most herbs and secondary ingredients can be bought from the shop keepers (not the general store’s shop keepers).
They can be found at:
- Edgeville (::home)
- Inside of Draynor Village’s bank
- South of Varrock’s West bank

*Note that the shop keepers at Edgeville and Draynor Village are the same person. Thus, they share the same number of stocks. For Example if you purchased 500 toadflax at Edgeville, the toadflax at Draynor Village’s herblore shop will also deplete by 500. However, this is not the case for the herbs shop at Varrock.

Other Ways to obtain herbs
1) Farming
The herbs that can be obtained from farming are:
- Guam seed (level 1)
- Tarromin seed (level 20)
- Ranarr seed (level 30)
- Cadantine seed (level 40)
- Irit seed (level 60)
- Kwuram seed (level60)

2) Monster’s Drops
You do not need to clean or identify the herbs.

3) Trading with Players

Herbs that cannot be found:
- Harralander

Other Ways to obtain Secondary Ingredients
1) White Berries
This item can be looted at Elves Island.

2) Snape Grass
This item can be looted at the south of Varrock; opposite to the area where the dark wizards are located

3) Crusted Birdnest
Obtain through woodcutting. There is a significant chance of crusted birdnest dropped beneath your character for every log cut.

4) Ashes
Obtain through killing any form of demons. The Abyssal creatures do not turn to ashes when they die.

5) Unicorn Horn Dust
This item can be obtained from unicorns. Unicorns can be found at south of Edgeville and next to the general store at "::train2".

Leveling From 1 to 99
What You Need Before You Start
• Motivation
• Patient
• Persistence
• A list of your favorite music playing in the background while you ‘herblewing’ (Author’s recommendation).

From level 1 to 81,
this stage is rather easy. Simply brew the best potions that you possible could. Don’t be resisted to add the secondary ingredients and complete your potions. However, I would ignore brewing serum 207 and restore potions.

To identify the potions that you can brew, simply click on the herblore skill icon located at your skill tab. A pop out will appear and it would show you the level requisite for each unfinished and completed potions.

From level 81 to 99,
this stage would be the most challenging and somewhat tedious. Nevertheless it is the final stage between you and your dream; the herblore achievement cape! Brew unfinished toadflax and cadantine potions. I would ignore adding their secondary ingredients, as they are a ‘waste of time’ to attain. For a cheaper option, brew super restore potions, as it only cots a total of 1059 coins per completed potion and the ingredients can be easily bought from the shop.

Tips and Tricks

• It is better to calculate and stock up the number of ingredients that you need to achieve level 99 herblore from level 81. Accordingly, it allows you to brew right in front of the bank. Thus, saving a huge amount time from travelling.

• The herblore shop at the Draynor Village is right next to the bank. This is the best location to stock up your herbs and ingredients.

• Immediately after a server restart, it is wise to rush to Draynor Village and stock up more ingredients. In particular the vial of waters. Rub an amulet of glory to teleport to Draynor Village.

• Unlimited vial of waters can also be bought at the general store for the same price; however, there is a setback. You would have to spend a great deal of time travelling back and forth from the bank to the general store, vice versa.

•The general store located at the west of Zanaris (The Lost City) is another great place where you can buy and accumulate unlimited vial of waters. The running distant between the bank and the store is very short. Use this to your advantage. However, you must complete “The Lost City” quest before you can enter Zanaris.

•It’s a good idea to invite a close friend or relative who is willing to help you purchase and accumulate the ingredients, in particularly the vial of waters and herbs. This can reduce the amount of time spent on acquiring ingredients, which in turn can be used to quickly level herblore at high levels.

• If the required ingredients from the heblore shop at Edgeville and Draynor Village are out of stock, you can use the Varrock’s herb shop. However, it would be slower to stock up your ingredients due to travelling time; similarly to running back and forth from the bank to the general store, vice versa).

Herblore 99
Once your herblore level is 99, Congratulations! You should give yourself a pat on the back; getting herblore to level 99 is not an easy task. You can now purchase your very own herblore achievement cape from Jatix located at the northwest of the warrior’s guild (requires total level of 70 equal from your Attack and Strength skills).

Jatix also sells unlimited supply of antipoison, ranging potions (3) and unicorn horn dust, which only available to herblore masters!
